How can you confirm your diagnosis?
- By demonstration of the presence of Bordetella pertussis, the etiological agent of whooping cough in patient's specimens.
- Direct fluorescent antibody detection of Bordetella pertussis in a nasopharyngeal aspirate
- Culture of per nasal swab for Bordetella pertussis on chocolate agar and/or Bordet - Gengou agar medium
