The class was currently learning the different systems in the body, so our presentation focused on the digestive system. We outlined the components of the digestive system and their function/importance in the digestion process. Additionally, we highlighted the importance of acids and bases in digestion, and provided experiments to show how we can measure/study acidity. One demonstration involved using red cabbage juice as a pH indicator. The class was then provided time to carry out a small experiment to predict and measure the pH of common household items (orange juice, soap, etc). |
