Many objectives may be addressed/encountered during individual patient encounters during the clerkships. Highlighted are sessions formally addressing issues related to end of life care and symptom management that are currently offered within the curriculum.

Medicine Subinternship

• Unit Small Group Case Discussion: Ethics in the ICU
• Floor Case Discussion: Pain Management

Psychiatry

• Lecture: Depression (Introduction to depression vs normal bereavement)

Surgery

• Lecture: Palliative Care after Injury
• Lecture: Pancreatic Cancer (EOL issues are discussed)
• Assignment: Short summary of an End of Life experience encountered during the clerkship
