Session Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants should be able to:

Identify the major fiscal elements of running a physician group practice and a large academic physician group practice
Identify major differences between a small physician group practice and a large academic physician group practice
Analyze considerations of margin and mission in a physician group practice and be able to explain the importance of "payer mix."
Identify the missions of an academic medical center and the major structural elements of such an organization.
