Abnormal Finding
If any inflammation, ulceration, discharge, swelling or nodules are noted they should be evaluated in the usual fashion. If discharge is noted, wet mount should be done with KOH or NACE solution, NOT cultured necessarily.
- Sparse pubic hair: (Delayed puberty (tanner staging), Hypopit)
- Mons pubis
- Labia majora:
- Small, firm, cystic nodules in skin (Sebaceous cyst)
- Warty lesions (Venereal wart)
- Flat round papules covered by exudate (Secondary syphilis)
- Firm painless ulcer (Syphilitic chancre, Cancer)
- Shallow painful ulcers (Herpes)
- Posterior labial swelling, tenderness and discharge (Bartholin gland inflammation or cyst)
- Labia minora
- Clitoris: Enlarged (Masculinizing conditions)
- Urethral orifice: Small red swelling (Prolapse of urethra, Caruncle)
- Introitus:
- Inflammation, ulceration, swelling, discharge and nodules
- Bulging of anterior vaginal wall: (Cystocele)
- Bulging of posterior vaginal wall: (Rectocele)
- Perineum
- Skene's gland
