- Skin:
- Pigmentation: Yellow color to palm (Carotenemia, Hypothyroidism,
Diabetes).
- Hereditary telengiectasia
- Inability to pinch skin on dorsum of hand: Thick skin: (Scleroderma)
- Thickening of focal areas in palm of hand. Location of them varies based on the hobby
and work.Callus: Could be work or hobby related.
- Warts: (viral infection)
- Systemic
- Warm: (fever)
- Moisture: (Nervousness, Thyrotoxicosis)
- Cold: ( Peripheral vasoconstriction, Low cardiac output)
- Neuromuscular
- Atrophy:
- Generalized: (Neuro muscular disease, Disuse from rheumatoid arthritis)
- Selective: Thenar wasting. Flattening of thenar eminence. (Median nerve injury)
- Selective: Flattening of hypothenar eminence, atrophy. (Ulnar nerve injury)
- Flexion of small and ring fingers: Dupuytren's contracture
