Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis

A contemporaneous CT demonstrated mucous impaction of bronchi.  The patient had peripheral eosinophilia (1200/mm3) and markedly elevated IgE levels.  Serum immunoprecipitins to aspergillus fumigatus were positive and a sputum culture grew aspergillus fumigatus.  The patient was treated with steroids for a diagnosis of ABPA and his infiltrates resolved.
