Scenario:

A Fall Into The Fuel Pool

You chose to:
Insert a nasogastric tube

The patient recognizes that he may have swallowed some of the pool water. It is important to remove as much internal contamination as possible. After placing the NG tube, approximately 500 cc of clear fluid is removed from the stomach. A check of the fluid shows that it is contaminated with 30,000 counts per minute of activity.

Ask for an analysis of the pool water.
