Urine infections are not uncommon among school age girls (about 5%). They are less common among boys. However, a child with a urine infection needs an evaluation to look for abnormalities that may predispose the child to develop more infections. Want another chance?

Order a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG).
Put the child on long-term oral antibiotics.
