Research/Institutes

Loyola’s active interdisciplinary research laboratories are located in its basic science areas and four research institutes:

  • Burn and Shock Trauma Institute
    is a multidisciplinary program that focuses upon prevention, treatment, education and research issues relevant to trauma and injury.
     
  • Oncology Institute
    coordinates Loyola’s interdisciplinary approach to cancer research and treatment.
     
  • Cardiovascular Institute
    unites investigators who have backgrounds in a variety of disciplines to foster cardiovascular disease research to advance clinical care and to enhance post-graduate education.
     
  • Infectious Disease and Immunology Institute's
    mission is to investigate interactions between microbes and the immune system, and to translate the acquired knowledge to the treatment, control and prevention of diseases caused by human infectious agents.
     
  • Neuroscience Institute
    The NSI represents an interdisciplinary approach to the field of neuroscience that encompasses over 70 affiliated faculty members distributed across basic science and clinical departments at the undergraduate and medical school campuses of Loyola University Chicago, and the neighboring Hines VA Hospital.
