Dissection of the Posterior Abdominal Wall

  1. Lift the kidneys and adrenal glands out of the way to expose the muscles of the posterior abdominal wall. Clean the diaphragm, psoas major m. and quadratus lumborum m.. Find the median arcuate ligament over the aorta, the medial arcuate ligament over the psoas major and the lateral arcuate ligament over the quadratus lumborum.

  2. Dissect the branches of the lumbar plexus along with the subcostal nerve. Named branches of the lumbar plexus include:
