Dissection of the Hip Joint

  1. Begin your dissection of the hip joint by turning the cadaver in the supine position and finding the rectus fermoris m. and sartorius m. seen in your earlier dissection.

  2. Reflecting these muscles exposes the iliopsoas and pectineus muscles.
HINT: Palpate the lesser trochanter to orient yourself.

  3. Carefully reflect the iliopsoas and pectineus muscles to expose the hip joint capsule.
