Dissection of the Hip Joint

  1. This dissection shows the iliofemoral ligament, which is a thickening of the capsule.
NOTE: The directions of the fibers are such that they tighten with extension of the joint. Does this remind you of the embryological rotation of the limb?

  2. The pubofemoral ligament is partially seen inferiorly. The ischiofemoral ligament is viewed posteriorly.
