Dissection of the Forearm

  1. Dissect and clean the muscles of the posterior compartment of the forearm. At this time you may also skin the dorsum of the hand to follow the extrinsic tendons. These muscles include:
    The brachioradialis m. can be included here because of its common innervation by the radial n., but recall that it acts to flex the elbow joint.

  2. Review the distribution of the superficial radial nerve and find the radial artery in the "snuff" box. Clean the posterior interosseus nerve, where it exits the supinator muscle, and clean the posterior interosseus artery, which travels with the nerve.
