Outer surface of ilium between middle and inferior gluteal lines
INSERTION
Anterior surface of greater trochanter of femur
ACTION
Abducts and medially rotates hip. Tilts pelvis on walking.
NERVE
Superior gluteal nerve (L4, 5, S1)
