The following lists major contraindications for surgery:

• Tumor invading the great vessels -subclavian art and vein
• Phrenic or recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis
• Invasion of the trachea or esophagus
• Extensive brachial plexus involvement
• Extensive vertebral body and spinal canal involvement
• Mediastinal lymph node involvement
