This is an alternate content page containing a Hot Spot Explore Activity. It has opened in a new window.
The activity has an image with defined hotspot areas. The hotspot areas in the image are labeled as:
Medial Vestibular Nucleus
Spinal Vestibular Nucleus (Inferior Vestibular Nucleus)
Spinal Trigeminal Nucleus
Spinal Trigeminal Tract
Ventral Spinocerebellar Tract
Spinothalamic Tract (STT) AKA Anterolateral System (ALS)
Inferior Olive
Corticospinal Tract (CST) AKA Pyramidal Tract
Descending Median Longitudinal Fasciculus (dMLF)
Tectospinal Tract
Dorsal and Ventral Cochlear Nucleus
Inferior Cerebellar Peduncle (Restiform and Juxtarestiform Bodies)
Pontobulbar Body
Facial Nucleus
Central Tegmental Tract
Medial Lemniscus
Arcuate Nucleus, a group of neurons located on the anterior surface of the medullary pyramids. They receive fibers from the corticospinal tract and send their axons through the anterior external arcuate fibers and striae medullares to the cerebellum via the inferior cerebellar peduncle. Arcuate nuclei are capable of chemosensitivity and have a proven role in controlling respiratory frequency.
