This is an alternate content page containing a Hot Spot Explore Activity. It has opened in a new window.
The activity has an image with defined hotspot areas. The hotspot areas in the image are labeled as:

Stria Medullaris Thalami
Anterior Thalamic Nucleus
Lateral Ventricle
Ventral Anterior Nucleus of the Thalamus
Mammillothalamic Tract, (Mammillothalamic Fasciculus), connects the mammillary body to the dorsal tegmental nuclei, the ventral tegmental nuclei, and the anterior thalamic nucleus.
Putamen
Lateral Globus Pallidus (Globus Pallidus Externa)
Ventral Pallidum, a component of the limbic loop of the basal ganglia, a pathway involved in the regulation of motivation, behaviour, emotions, and drug addiction.
Nucleus Basalis of Meynert, has wide projections to the neocortex and is rich in acetylcholine and choline acetyltransferase. Undergoes degradation in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
Anterior Perforated Substance, a region of gray matter in the limbic system immediately posterior to the gyrus rectus. The name derives from the many holes created in this region by the penetrating lateral lenticulostriate arteries arising from the superior surface of the first part of the middle cerebral artery. It is part of the basal forebrain. A large portion of the gray matter is the olfactory nucleus or tubercle.
Optic Chiasm
Hypothalamus
Fornix
Ansa Lenticularis
Anterior Commissure
Medial Globus Pallidus (Globus Pallidus Interna)
Zona Incerta
Internal Capsule
